A Thousand Words

Salam and hello guys :)

Today I thought it might be good to share about a movie that I've watched last night.

Yeah, another inspirational movie. Great one I shall say.
The movie entitled 'A Thousand Words' starring by Eddie Murphy, etc.

The creativity of sending the simple yet deep messages in this movie had caught my attention.

The story is just simple, really.

It's about a guy named Jack McCall, a literary agent who uses his gift of gab to get

various book deals, and he isn't afraid to stretch the truth to get them.
He's also not the type of considering his speeches towards others or the way he talk to someone.
So, then, one day, he's trying to get a book deal from a New Age self-help guru named
Dr.Sinja, while they're discussing, he put his hands on the 'Bodhi tree' and get a cut
from it's splinter. Dr.Sinja, though, already sees through his deceit and agrees to the deal,
only to later deliver a five page book.
That night, the Bodhi tree magically appears on Jack's backyard while he's having some talk
with his wife about their future which Jack usually give such a negative response with the into-family-environment-around-them thingy.
Dr. Sinja goes to Jack's house and shockingly they both discover that for every each word
that Jack had said, the leaves would fall off the tree, which from a thousand leaves then
now it's reducing more and more as Jack pour out any words from his mouth.
The tree and Jack were so much connected as Jack was the tree and vice versa.
So, with Jack forced to pick and choose his words, communicating with others
becomes difficult and full of misunderstanding, as he's still angry and can't accept with
what had happened to him without choosing to think about it.
These misunderstandings cost him two book deals, his job, and his wife, as
she walk out because she think he didn't loves her anymore due to his sudden silence.
However, this story isn't over yet. :)
Perhaps u should watch it yourself and think. :)
For those who wanna watch it now, here's the link : click me to watch it now :)

So, the philosophy is just simple, isn't it? One word then a leave will fall.

When all the leaves are gone then the tree would die and so do Jack.
Apply it to your life. Imagine.
The messages that I've got straight away  from this movie are: 'don't speak a lie nor unnecessary things', 'be / do good towards others' and also 'forgiveness'.
It's simply in our Quran as for Muslims, referred to some of these examples:
 33:70 (Al-Ahzab) -
"O believers, do have fear to Allah, and only tell / speak of the truth,"
2:83 (Al-Baqarah) - "....say a good word to man,..."
and many more.

Actually it's not that we can't say a thing, but if we talk too much, we are literally

leads to the unnecessary talks that could lead us to commit a sin such as backbiting,
defamation, etc.  Our beloved prophet, Muhammad PBUH said, :
" Anyone who have so much talk multiply mistakes, a lot of those mistakes multiply sin, fire hell is eligible for himself. "- (Hadith narrated by Baihaqi)
"Human face is not thrown into the hell as harvest (offensive) tongue."
- (Hadith narrated byTarmizi)

Imam Nawawi also advised that we should keep your tongue from speaking useless,
unless the conversation was any good. When speaking and silence is the same result,
then according to Sunnah it is all right to remain silent. This is because
the allowed speech may lead to illegal or disapproved. This incident was a lot going on,
but very little of it is good / rare.

Islam also forbids Muslims from have too much pride in themselves and look down
nor insulting others but as a Muslim we should be piety and humble in order to
protect the heart and feelings of others.
The same as forgiveness. As Muslims we've been taught to forgive and asks for forgiveness.
Remember, asking for forgiveness is not just for our sins, but also for our needs as well.

"...Pardon them and overlook - Allah loves those who do good" - (Quran 5:13)

"..those who control their anger and are forgiving towards people,

-Allah loves those who do the goods." (Quran 3:134)

Repentance from all sins is obligatory on every adult Muslim. This is emphasized by Allah in His saying: “...and all of you beg Allah to forgive you all, O believers, that you may be successful.” (Quran 24:31)

:: The Messenger of Allah was seated in a gathering with the Sahabah when he looked towards the entrance and said, “A man of Paradise is coming.” At that instance someone who seemed to be very ordinary entered the mosque where they were seated. A Sahabi was curious as to why the Prophet said, so he followed the man to his house. This Sahabi told the man that he was a traveler and stayed as a guest. For three days the Sahabi saw nothing unusual, so he finally told the man what the Prophet had said and asked him what was so special. The man thought for a long time and said, "There might be one thing -- every night before going to sleep I forgive everyone and sleep with a clean heart."

May Allah give us all the ability to forgive others for the wrong they do to us, and May Allah forgive us all for our sins. Aamiinn.

So, guess that's all for this entry. May we've learnt a lot or at least something from it.

Don't block the great messages just because it's from a non-muslim.
We could still connected it based from our own guidance, right?
Take the good, leaves the bad. Then it's all gonna be allright, insyaAllah.
Have a nice day people.
Wassalam.

:)
