World's First : Mindful Muslim App (Review)

Salam & Hi lovelies!

How are you guys doing? Hopefully all is well despite any of the hardness that we face these days. Indeed this time, I would like to share with all of you one of the app that I’ve just installed and tried for few days, which is the Mindful Muslim app.

To be honest, as far as I know, this is the world’s first Islamic app that meant to improve our mental and emotional well beings throughout guided Islamic talk down audio - which include variety of Duas, stories from Al-Quran, Ruqyah, and more. It got 4.8 stars rating with more than 1900 5 star reviews on Google Playstore, which is impressive, isn’t it? Don’t worry it’s also available on Appstore as well with by far have 5 star rating!

What drawn me to try this app is that I did have insomnia - it’s always hard for me to try to sleep in the early night, hence, I’m open to try many ways to sleep, especially if it’s into Islamic. I did look up for Islamic app that contains stories from Al-Quran, and I can say that this Mindful Muslim comes with bonus as it’s include other beneficial reciting, all in one app.

Newspaper article regarding Mindful Muslim app

Before this, I have to open several apps to get to hear what I seek for, ie Quran recites, stories, Duas and Zikrullah, but now I only have to make a playlist on my Mindful Muslim app and I’m good to go, ready to drift to such serene sleep.

FYI, the stories and hadith in their guided talk down are taken from the references of works, talks & lectures from well known Islamic speakers such as Nouman Ali Khan, Mufti Menk, Omar Suleiman, Yassir Qadhi and Wahaj Tarin.

While the compilation of Duas are extracted from the ‘Hisnul Muslim’ book by Sa’eed Ibn Ali Ibn Wahf Al-Qahtaani (14th Century) which it’s original text with translation are available at www.hisnulmuslim.com

As for the compilation of Duas before sleep, including the Ruqyah, they cross reference it with Islamqa, which are according to the sunnah that are referenced from Dr Abu’l -Mundhir Khaleel Ibn Ibraaheem Ameen. So from all these credible references, I think we can be confident enough to listen to it, right.

Below are several of my screenshots from the app, which shows some of the choices / varieties that are available in the app. Indeed those are truly helpful, as upon listening, it able to calm me down, raise my motivation and also to reflect myself in order to strengthen my connection with The Most Merciful, Allah SWT and also my deen, Islam.

These are some of the Duas and Ruqyah available

There are 4 reciters to choose from & also several verses from Al-Quran

These are my fav sections as well, variety of talk down to choose from

Based from my experience upon exploring this apps, I find that the guided talks and stories are lovely, in addition, insightful as well. I love how we’re able to choose our background sound as well if we like, for example, adding the sound of the waves crashing subtly to the beach, or the sound of the rain, which these two are my favorites by far as it gives me such idyllic feeling while listening to the talks or reciting. You guys can watch my video to get the full POV upon using this app including the sample sound on my IG or HERE okayy 😊

I believe, most of us have experience stress, or depression, especially during this hard time on pandemic. For me, by listening to the contents in Mindful Muslim, does helps. I do suffer from anxiety etc and for me, besides water, listening to these calm and mindful content, totally calm me down and makes me grateful as well as more appreciative / positive towards many aspects. I can also feel the serenity and love.

Besides that, this app is really easy to explore, and I think it’s great for parents to let the kids listens to it too. Those with babies especially can now easily play the Ruqyah and all while feeding their loved ones, or while putting the children to sleep, or anytime too, really.

It’s also offers Sleep Diary, which we can pour our thoughts or adding some additional notes while listening to any in there before we sleep, but I haven’t try that yet hence can’t say how it goes.

Anyway, as far as it contains much pros as I’ve mentioned above, there are indeed some cons in this app. Well not really bad things to be exact, yet just some minor things that I think the developer can improve or add on onto their next update, which are :

1. Added the reciter’s sound sample, since upon choosing on the reciter, I’m too lazy to google how they sound like huhu hence a sample player (like the sound sample on guided talk down) will be truly helpful

2. Fix to be more smooth generally while using the app - as I’m facing several unwanted things like the background sound stop halfway and sometimes can’t change to other choice, a lil bit difficult to add a new playlist to my saved playlist (hence by far I only manage to have 1 saved playlist but it’s okay I’ll explore more and will update if I suddenly manage to add another playlist heheh)

3. Maybe can make the saved playlist available to be played offline? Since yes we need internet connection in order to play through all / using this app

4. Um this might be not necessary but it will be nice if we can also have a theme / background colour maybe, for this app? Hehe. Or at least make it available in dark mode hehee.

Alright so far I think that’s it, overall this is indeed such a great and helpful app to have. I’m glad that I install it, and I’ll explore more of it from time to time. Looking forward for more stories added into the guided talkdown, really. I do have books for stories from Al-Quran, and I can see how exciting it’ll be if it can be more stories in this app so I (and looking forward to let my kids too) can just listened to it everyday. 🥰

These are how it looks like while listening to it.
Can do / open other apps / things too while listening

For me, this app isn’t just inclusive to Muslims, yet it’s also can be listens by non Muslims as well, if they want to. Anyhow, for those whom wanna try or check out this app, you guys can install it via these links below for both Google Playstore and Appstore okayy :

IOS : https://apps.apple.com/my/app/mindfulmuslim/id1503293513

In case you guys have try it, feel free to share what you think or your experiences with me too if you like okayy, perhaps I could learn something new too from yours. Till then, thank you for your time lovelies and may what I shared can be beneficial someway to you guys too. Take care all! ❤️

Swallow : Movie talk & Review

Salam and Hello lovelies!

Alright this time I wanna share about this movie that I just watched
earlier, Swallow. It's more into a psychological and drama genre,
since it's clearly shows those aspects a lot in this movie.
Before you proceed, I gotta warn you that this talk include such
massive spoiler regarding this movie okayy, so if you haven't
watch it yet and planning to, read at your own risk okay hehe.

Movie poster & info overview below, credit to Google

It's 6.4 on IMDb, so not bad yeah

Some of the casts

Alright for those whom haven't watch, this movie is about Hunter,
a stay at home wife whom married a wealthy guy. Soon, she's pregnant
but picking up with such strange habit of eating things that she shouldn't -
or having Pica - the eating / psychiatric disorder in more accurate terms.
She started with ice cubes, which I think is somehow normally relatable,
then going on with more strange and up to dangerous things, such as
a small marble ball, the pin it thing, battery, paper, even dirts and oh dear god
it's literally everything that you shouldn't be eating and can harm yourself.

One of the scene in this movie, credit from the official trailer

The visual for this Pica moment in this movie is great, I praise it really as
we can feel like she's really taking them, you know.
Like you get that uneasy feeling, the cautious feeling, the yucky and all that.
It might call up for some graphic disturbance for some people I guess
but as for me, nope, it's not that extreme but it's good, it's help you to
address the habits, like, not feeling fake or something, the urgencies, you know.

So I did some reading regarding Pica, I found that this disorder is actually
more common in children than in adults, but the exact prevalence in adults
is unknown. If it's occurs in adults, it tends to be associated with
intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, schizophrenia or pregnancy.
Other factors that said to be associated with Pica are anemia and low levels
of education, which also associated to the low economic background as well.
By far, the treatment that one could get if they're suspected with Pica is by
monitoring their eating habits, correcting the poor nutritions and cravings,
and also close collaboration with mental health team and more.

Alright back to this movie, hehe, I think it's brilliant because it showed us
many aspects in our life, or someone's life, that perhaps we don't know
or cared enough about, yet it's important. Indeed understanding the mental
health is really are important and could give such huge impact on one's life.
This movie definitely screams for mental health awareness, and the
acknowledgement of it is truly are the essence.

Everyone had their own past, their own beginning, and their own family issues.
Little that you know, those usually are the starter pack for wether a good mental
health or not or so, you know. He or she might seems fine, happy, content,
but always look out for their mental health.

In this movie, from the surfaces of Hunter's life, we might thought that she's lucky,
that we wanted to be like in her place and all, yeah the wealthy life, generally good in laws,
stay at home without worries, yada yada, but when we can see it deeper, for me,
I can see how lonely she is, how unhappy she is, and how she needed love and support
or compassion from the people around her, but that's not really what she get.

Watch out for her face expression during this scene.
Her eyes, well, by the look on her face,
definitely showed all of the exhaustion she bear.

The crunching the ice moment while she was
having dinner with his husband and in laws

They (mostly the husband) often sounded like downgraded her, sometimes it's like she's nothing,
like, hmm I guess you'll get it when you watch it. Then when her past been revealed,
it feels like it came more to the pieces, you know. The connection of what happened, then
how was she throughout that until she got married and everything.
Yeah I hope u get what I said when you've watch it later yeah hehe.

So, from my point of view, in order to regain her own motivation, her own self confident
or you know, the feeling to wanna feels like you've achieve something, you're someone special,
you can do / control things, yeah things like that, urge her into that Pica disorder.

Instead of trying to understand or getting close and helping in a fruitful way, they
tend to drove her away more - like when her husband scolded her after
they (he and his family) found out about her Pica eating habits, and even blackmailed
to divorce if she refuse to follow their plan upon going to stay at the psychiatry house
for many months. I know that's not really a bad thing but the way they handled it
or approach is not right, you know.

Well the husband wasn't really a good husband from the start, as he often neglected
her emotionally, like not really paying attention during their conversation or
spend time together, and the most bitchy thing that her husband did once they knew
about her condition is that he told everyone at his office about his wife's disorder,
and, trying to own it like he did the right thing.
Yeah you gotta watch the birthday party's scene huhu.

Dinner with her husband at home. Seems gloomy
and lonely right, even with company.
This reminds me of that Modern Loneliness song by Lauv.

that moment when she's trying to have a nice conversation

The birthday party moment

Indeed, basically, the way of the approach, help, is like, they didn't know about
mental health, like, guys, they should have different approach in order to help.
Like even the helper / bodyguard Luay seemed more compassionate to help
her, as well as the gentle, talking method by her psychiatrist in each of her visits.

I gotta say bravo to Haley Bennet (starring as Hunter) because she carried her character
well enough. This Hunter character had developed smooth and great throughout the movie,
as well as others. The ending is understandable as well, not sure bout what you guys
will think of it but I gotta say, that's understandable as in perhaps her way of starting
a new life. In addition, somehow, I kinda stand with her decision before the ending scene
of which she's not falling for her husband speeches right before he went mad again
after that haha but yess, good for you girl.

Well, overall, it's a great movie indeed. Might be heavy for some people but it's not for me.
The issues aren't like the usual indeed yet that's what I like about this movie as well.
Kinda reminisce me of the Joker movie (which I don't find it as heavy as well),
but this one is more into marriage vibes. If you love a movie that can make you think
wether a lot or yeah a fruitful of it, be it during or after watching,
then yes I think this one can suits you too. I'm indeed basically a fan of psychological
genre, indeed especially psycho thriller but this kind of psycho is definitely on my list too.
One can learn a lot from such psychology related movies or series, and even books too.

Okay this seems like a lot right haha gosh thanks to those who stayed till the end!
I think these tidbits here are fairly enough right, and hopefully got lots of great or beneficial
insights and sharing that you guys get from my movie talk here this time too.
I usually shared little review on my ig stories as well if you notices but indeed, had shared
some here too, like for years now. Feel free to scroll and read my previous movie talk
here okayy in case you haven't or new to my site here hehe.
Till next time, stay safe and have a great week ahead lovelies!

P/S : All of these pictures of the movie's scenes and moments are sources from the official trailer of this movie by IFC Films. While other pictures are credited to Google.

Natugee X Mrs Malaysia World : Healthy Is The New Happy

Salam and Hi lovelies!

Last Sunday (20/10/2019), I've attended 'Healthy Is The New Happy'
event by Natugee and Mrs World Malaysia at Furama Hotel,
Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur. In conjunction with Pink October
as breast cancer awareness, this event was held in order to give insights
and everything regarding improving the quality of women's health, be it
physically and mentally, since it's really are important for us women
to take a good care of ourselves too when we're busy taking great care
of others around us.

I must say thank you to The Asian Parent Malaysia (remember my sharing before
regarding The Asian Parent Malaysia and TheAsianParent App? Well if you missed
that and not know what that is, you have to read more HERE okayy as I've already shared
everything that you need to know there) and Natugee for inviting me, because this event
had filled me with lots of great info and perspectives through things that I too, can relate.
Indeed I've already shared the same vision with these amazing women actually, which I do
know how important it is to read labels, know my body - what's going on with it, how important
to opt for all natural and organic things for our health and beauty, and so on. Hence what's
made it more interesting is that those topics been talk openly with guidance and more fruitful
talk through it too.

So the event flow started with a session with Dr Linda Mat Hassin, a Certified Advances
Hormone Therapy & Women Wellness Medical Doctor, sharing about hormones,
ie how the hormones imbalance may affect our health and lifestyle. It's great to add up
more knowledge regarding hormones, such as the aging issues, hormones and skin
diseases connection, importance of hormones, men's hormones problem, etc.

Then we had our second session with Mrs Rena Rifaee, the Founder and CEO of Natugee
Sdn Bhd, whom also an organic skincare formulator and advocate for natural beauty and
women empowerment. In this session, I'm glad to know that she's truly know what an all
natural and organic products are because first and foremost, she did addressed about how
most of the so called all natural products that she found in stores / drugstores aren't actually
all natural. Indeed I found that disappointing and deceiving as well and now yes I'm glad
to know that she found the matter as well and as someone whom with Diploma in
Organic Skincare, she's been trying to make things right not just by producing the right
all natural and organic, premium products, but also been sharing the right facts to public
like in this kind of event and all. As you can see below are the infos that she's been sharing
in her session which I found out that most among us still haven't know about it at the event.
So yes feel free to study them too in case you didn't know too okay, there are information
upon how to read the ingredient's label in a product, skin's myth vs facts, skin concerns, etc.

Next session of the event is the 'A New Formula For Happiness' forum in which 4 panelists
been invited to talk through, which are Mrs Rena Rifaee and Dr Linda Mat Hassin as well as
Datin Harveen Kaur - the Mrs Malaysia World 2017 and National Director for Mrs Malaysia World,
and last but not least, Datin Diana Danielle, a well known Malaysian Celebrity Personality
whom also had personally going through anxiety attack episodes in her life.

In this fruitful forum, I've learnt more about anxiety and mental health, ie what to do
if we face it, how to detect, helpful things regarding mental health, and also learnt some
things / great perspectives from such emotionally beautiful, journey sharing from the panelists
that went through from their hardest times till it turns alright.

I've compiled snippet videos from the event that you guys can watch below as well okay.
Feel free to watch as I've included the close up view of products and everything as well,
may it'll be helpful for you all.
